The Labor Inspection plays an essential role in protecting the rights and safety of employees and employers. The field of labor relations is regulated by a series of laws and government decisions, which establish the mandate, organizational structure and procedures of this institution.

Legea nr. 53/2003 - Codul Muncii: Regulates labor relations between employers and employees, establishing their rights and obligations.
Legea nr. 156/2000 privind protecția cetățenilor români care lucrează în străinătate: Ensures the protection of the rights of Romanian citizens employed abroad.

Ordonanța de Urgență a Guvernului nr. 96/2003: Aims at protecting maternity at the workplace, ensuring adequate conditions for pregnant, postpartum or breastfeeding employees.

Ordinul Ministrului Muncii și Solidarității Sociale nr. 2171/2022 approves the framework model of the individual employment contract, with subsequent amendments and additions.
