- The Labor Inspection plays an essential role in protecting the rights and safety of employees and employers. The field of labor relations is regulated by a series of laws and government decisions, which establish the mandate, organizational structure and procedures of this institution.

- Legea nr. 53/2003 - Codul Muncii: Regulates labor relations between employers and employees, establishing their rights and obligations.
- Legea nr. 156/2000 privind protecția cetățenilor români care lucrează în străinătate: Ensures the protection of the rights of Romanian citizens employed abroad.
- Legea nr. 202/2002 privind egalitatea de șanse și tratament între femei și bărbați: Promotes equal opportunities and the elimination of gender-based discrimination.
- Legea nr. 279/2005 privind ucenicia la locul de muncă: Regulates vocational training through apprenticeship in the workplace.

- Hotărârea Guvernului nr. 537/2004: Approves the methodological norms for the application of the provisions of Government Emergency Ordinance no. 96/2003 on the protection of maternity at the workplace.
- Hotărârea Guvernului nr. 855/2013: Approves the Methodological Norms for the application of the provisions of Law no. 279/2005 regarding apprenticeship at the workplace.
- Hotărârea Guvernului nr. 518/1995: Regulates the rights and obligations of Romanian personnel sent abroad to perform temporary missions.

- Ordonanța de Urgență a Guvernului nr. 96/2003: Aims at protecting maternity at the workplace, ensuring adequate conditions for pregnant, postpartum or breastfeeding employees.

Orders of the Minister
- Ordinul Ministrului Muncii și Solidarității Sociale nr. 2171/2022 approves the framework model of the individual employment contract, with subsequent amendments and additions.
